Description:

This pairing of items from The Official Secretariat Archive #sec050573kd-2ab-LC consists of the Chenery/Tweedy family's original and personal track-used May 5, 1973 Kentucky Derby admission ticket stub and the accompanying clubhouse box access bracelet. The ticket and bracelet are part of the personal collection of the Chenery family, who gathered at Churchill Downs that fateful day to watch their Secretariat win the 99th Run for the Roses. What they experienced was history in the making. Not only did they witness Secretariat win the classic race but they also saw him establish a new track record for the 1 1/4 mile distance with an official time of 1:59 2/5. The 3' × 5" Kentucky Derby admission stub features the year "1973" composed of vibrant red roses as well as the event date and individual ticket cost. The ticket also displays the exact section (G), box (21), and accompanying seat (6), where the Meadow Stable connections watched the prestigious race unfold. The translucent green plastic bracelet with silver clasp features the words "1973 Kentucky Derby" and was assigned to the clubhouse box seat holders in attendance. The items have resided in protected storage within the private collection of the Chenery/Tweedy family since their original use before being added to this collection.
