Bill Nack “Pure Heart” Display

Description:

This beautifully framed display pays homage to the sport's greatest horse and one of its best storytellers, Bill Nack.  One of Nack's most acclaimed pieces was his  "Pure Heart" article featured in Sports Illustrated which chronicled Secretariat's incredible career and death in October 1989.  Secretariat's exercise rider Jim Gaffney was so moved by the article that he gifted this shoe to Nack as a thank you.  The shoe was worn by Secretariat as he trained at Hialeah Park during the winter of 1972 in preparation for his Triple Crown racing year in 1973.  The shoe is cataloged in The Official Secretariat Archives #sec0373HJG-BN2.

This piece was acquired directly from Secretariat.com and includes: the title page of the "Pure Heart" article, a period photo from Hialeah hand signed by Gaffney and Hall of Fame Jockey Ron Turcotte and an original letter from Mr. Nack documenting the provenance in great detail.

Insured Value:  $75,000.00
